Western Civilization has been in decline since the time of Napoleon, as asserted by the historian, philosopher, and polymath Oswald Spengler. Around the time of World War I Spengler predicted that, around the year 2000, Western Civilization would enter a period of "inward decline of the nations into a formless population, and constitution thereof as an Imperium of gradually increasing crudity and despotism."

Looking back over my own post World War II lifetime, I can clearly see that decline. And "crudity and despotism" is virtually the definition of how President Trump operates. People don't want to live in a state of oppression by either government or business (laissez-faire capitalism), and yet that is what we have now in the United States. But if good people band together, we can survive oppression, and maybe even replace Western Civilization with something new and good for mankind.
